Activities
The Fayston Elementary School PTO sponsors a wide variety of programs and activities that enrich our children’s education, foster community outreach to Fayston families and celebrate our gifted teachers. Through your generous support, we have been able to sponsor the following programs:
The Four Winds Program is a natural science program delivered to students once a month via parent and community volunteers. FES students look forward to these intensive nature studies that empower them to research, hypothesize and explore while engaging with the beautiful grounds surrounding Fayston School.
The Artist-in-Residence Program is a yearly 2 week program during which the students are exposed to and taught the skills of a particular art form. The artists have ranged from poets to circus performers. Recent year's have featured Troy Wunderle, Jordan from Shidaa, and Bread & Puppet!
The First Day Breakfast is a breakfast open to all families to commence the first day of school.
Movie Nights, organized by several 6th graders with a teacher’s guidance, are evenings when the students are invited back to school to watch a movie together in the gym and enjoy popcorn and other snacks.
Skating Night is an evening when the local skating rink is reserved for an hour of skating for the families of FES children.
Bridge Street Art Fair & Auction is a collaborative event with schools in the Valley to showcase student masterpieces and celebrate community!
Trunk or Treat welcomes children from the FES and wider Mad River Valley community to trick-or-treat from the trunks their families decorate. This event promises to become another fun FES tradition!
Our talented school chef, Cheryl Joslyn brings members of our community together for Farm Day to share with students the importance of our food, knowing where it comes from, how it nourishes our bodies and growing our own! The day links FES students with farmers, beekeepers, gardeners and food-producers from the Mad River Valley and beyond for a day of educational and hands-on workshops. Each fall, students will harvest the raised beds they have planted and create their own school lunch!
